Hello. I’m Cathy Harrison, thank you for visiting me online.
I realise that making the decision to come to counselling can be a difficult one, it may have been on your mind for sometime and eventually an event, a situation or living with anxiety, low mood or relationship issues can lead you to consider this option. We can live in a more comfortable way with ourselves, and so with the world around us.
After many years of involvement with counselling and through my work within mental health I greatly value the opportunity for change it can offer.
I work alongside individuals or couples to explore, recognise and understand the difficulties in their lives. I work in an integrated way, fitting the therapy to each persons unique needs. We are led by what you bring.
I provide a warm, holding and professional relationship for my client and as a (registered) member of the BACP I work to their ethical standards.
I have experience with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and health conditions. Past and present difficulties around emotional and sexual abuse. Along with issues at work, including sudden inability to work and a sense of real over whelm. I also work with various forms of loss, from health to the hidden loss of a miscarriage, abortion and childlessness.
The couples counselling training I have done helps to process and understand the feelings and complexities around being in the couple relationship.
I work with all ages from young adults to the elderly, and recently with students encountering distress of many forms, along with the elderly encountering sudden transitions around health and loss.
I work with relatives where a close family member’s emotional issues are impacting on others, here my expertise underpins the work we can do together.
I am available for as long as the work is needed, this can be short or long term. I have an interest in the interaction between mental and physical well being, I am a member of the health care group within the BACP.
My consulting room is at Langport Counselling Practice Great Bow Wharf, Langport. The beautifully restored building is in a tranquil setting over looking the river. There is free parking near by, with disabled access. I have some evenings appointments subject to availability.
